The KAIST Litlab (Literary Studies at KAIST Lab) reimagines literary studies for the digital age, exploring innovative intersections between literature, digital methods, and cultural analysis through our research. We approach digital technology both as a research methodology and as a cultural phenomenon that requires a humanistic critical inquiry. Our lab members come from various academic backgrounds, including literary studies, information science, and computer engineering. Through experimental and creative research projects, we examine how texts across historical periods and cultural boundaries shape and reflect cultural dynamics while deepening our understanding of today’s technological landscape and its implications. As a group of digital humanists in the School of Digital Humanities and Computational Social Sciences at KAIST, we collectively aim to understand the complexities of our current technology-driven world and the evolving role of literature in how we interpret it.
